Little Black Girl

Little black girl, it’s okay to be you, in whichever  way, shape or form.

Little black girl, occupy space. It would be a shame for your talent to go to waste.

Little black girl, it’s okay to be loud. Shout if you have to. Stand tall, be proud.

Little black girl, it’s okay to cry. Journey with your emotions they deserve to be felt.

Little black girl, excel because you can. Rise above their doubt. Rise above their cloud.

Little black girl, never dim your light. Shine bright and be great, for you are a beacon for tomorrow.

  1. This IS HEALING!!!
In a world where you are told that you lips are too big, the gap between you eyes is too wide, your nose is this, your hair is that… You simply become blind to the real beauty and can easily feel unworthy. This lack of self-worth and low self-esteem is extremely damaging and manifests in very nasty ways.
One crucial step that experts highlight in order to promote healing and self-love is to connect, embrace and console our inner child.
I feel that this piece of work did just that, it felt so soothing to my soul.
Thank you so much for this and I hope that many more black/minority girls hear of this and become empowered.
